I’ve spent the last few months getting back into running. Not easy when your time is precious, the weather freezing, and you just keeping picking up your kids’ colds. So to give myself motivation, I entered the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon. It definitely motivated, but didn’t solve the problem of having no time! I ended up on the start line nonetheless and was pleased with my effort (seems my lack of quantity was compensated by running home with a heavy bag a few times a week).
The race was tough, with the middle section sapping energy as the hill seems to last forever. But get past that and there’s usually brilliant support at the top. This year, the very excellent Bloco Fogo were beating some very loud drums. Brilliant motivation.
They also played at the start lane, and as I had my phone with me, I filmed a few minutes. I got a bit carried away and almost missed the start of the race. Next time, I run, I think I’ll have a go at making a video of the run itself (although it won’t be as fun as Bloco Fogo!)
